An animatronic device is a mechanized puppet that appears to be live and animated rather than robotic. Here’s some examples of how this technology is becoming incredibly real.
The capabilities of animatronics are growing; they can either be preprogrammed or remotely controlled. These devices have gone from being able to perform a limited range of movements towards incredibly increased versatility. More and more, animatronics are replacing CGI in Hollywood productions.
Here is some incredible work by Gustav Hoegen, who’s work has been seen in Clash of the Titans, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Prometheus, and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
