Overall, December was an incredible month for domain name sales. We saw one of the biggest sales of all time in Investing.com, along with countless five and six figure deals. So without further adieu, here’s the best of the best and the jest.

Astounde had the privilege to speak to Rockies owner Dick Monfort in mid-2012, and we asked Mr. Monfort why the Rockies were one of only five MLB team that didn’t own the .com of their team name.

Mr. Monfort informed us that it wasn’t up to him, that Major League Baseball owned all of the league’s internet properties, including ColoradoRockies.com, and it would be up to them to acquire it. Now, six months later, they finally have.

In the second biggest pure domain name sale to date, Alexa top 3,300 site ForexPros.com has purchased Investing.com for $2.45 million as part of their global rebranding effort.

ForexPros was a solid, serviceable domain name, but Investing.com is a name that commands the utmost respect the instant you feast your eyes on it.
