First Thin, Flexible Tablets Hit CES

In what’s been a long time coming, Plastic Logic, founded by researchers from Cambridge University’s Cavendish Laboratory, have brought us the next step in the evolution of our gadgets; smart, bendable and detailed handheld devices. With bendable and shape-shifting smart screens, this year’s Consumer Electronics Show is already shaping up to be a memorable one.

The PaperTab as it’s being called rocks a 10.7” plastic touchscreen display that’s powered by the second generation Intel Core i5 Processor. Instead of using several apps or windows on a single display, users have ten or more interactive displays or “PaperTabs”; one per app in use.

The capabilities of the PaperTab are pretty awesome, here’s a video outlining some of the more mind-blowing features.

The company believes that “within five to ten years, most computers, from ultra-notebooks to tablets, will look and feel just like these sheets of printed color paper.”

Finally, although we don’t have any updated video, Samsung took the veil of their flexible OLED smartphones that they call Youm, offering all the features of your current phone in a nearly unbreakable, foldable body.
